My association with music has been long standing. I have Diploma of Music, a Certificate IV in Training and Education and have been a musical all-rounder for over 30 years
Since the early nineties I have been involved in the Melbourne music scene, writing, performing and recording as a bassist and guitarist in the studio, on stage and on air throughout Australia.
In the mid nineties I began working in film production. Getting involved with relatively low budget films, I was able to experience multiple aspects of the industry including: musical composition, sound recording, sound design and sound Foley.
I have been a children’s entertainer for the past twenty years, in that time I have run workshops and school incursions in music, circus skills and performance.
Four years ago I had the opportunity to conflate my music background and that of entertaining young children to pursue a career in teaching: guitar, bass, ukulele, piano/keyboard, drums/percussion and band in primary schools.
I believe music should be inclusive and inspire creativity within a growth mindset. Whether it’s the rewards culminating from hours of practice, the historic and cultural appreciation that learning a new and unique language can inspire, or the joy of just getting together with a group of friends for fun, learning an instrument at an early age is a gift that keeps on giving. No matter what a young person’s future aspirations are, music will always be a welcome companion.
